Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation Receives Grant from Bank of America
Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation, a local 501(c)(3) not-for-profit, but for community benefit organization, is proud to announce that we received a grant from Bank of America to support the growth of local Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) small businesses to provide them with resources for marketing and community engagement. Our mission is to “develop people, property, and businesses, and we envision equitable, inclusive socio-economic justice for all.”
EMSDC is seeking to address inequities, particularly access to resources, often experienced by BIPOC small businesses. The $15,000 grant from Bank of America will help EMSDC equip local BIPOC businesses with marketing and promotion opportunities via direct support and print copy materials.
“Bank of America’s support for Eagle Street Market Development Corporation aligns closely our broader $1.25B commitment to advance racial equity and economic opportunity for people and communities of color,” said Andy Nadeau, President, Bank of America Asheville. “Supporting minority-owned small business growth in Western North Carolina is just one way we can create meaningful pathways to employment and help address systemic gaps by connecting businesses to resources that will expand inclusive economic development in our region.”
EMSDC will offer these resources in tandem with our Community Equity Fund (CEF). CEF is an innovative funding vehicle that infuses equity capital for operating into local BIPOC, “small growth businesses,” typically sole proprietors.
EMSDC’s Board and staff appreciate Bank of America’s generous award and continued support of the community. “We look forward to this partnership as we continue to champion underutilized, underserved and underrepresented businesses in the local area,” says President and CEO of Eagle Market Streets Development Corporation Stephanie Swepson-Twitty.
