Individual Development Account

Small businesses across Asheville have been feeling the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak as residents are urged to follow social-distancing recommendations. Specifically, at risk are our people of color and women owned businesses. Our team at Eagle Market Street Development Corporation remains focused on small business capitalization through the acquisition of assets, job creation, and entrepreneurial skill training supported through our Individual Development Account (IDA) program. During this time job/employee retention and securing essential funds for operation is crucial to the survival of these historically disenfranchised small businesses. The IDA program provides the financial capability management skills, marketing, advertising, and business development strategies for participants to successfully compete in a free-market system.

Community Benefit Partner Partnering with Not For Profit and For Profit Entities

EMSDC’s Fiscal Sponsorship program is designed to help grassroots organizations seeking 501(c)(3) sponsorship solicit in conjunction with their Corporate Social Responsibility activities. We provide 501(3)(c) protection to those seeking to solicit who are not registered as a 501(c)(3). An outstanding exemplification of a community member utilizing this program is CoThinkk which is an organization dedicated to the upliftment of communities of color in Asheville and Western North Carolina through social change philanthropy.

Block by Block Industries and EMSDC Partner Agencies

Block by Block Industries is a contract commercial sewing program owned by Eagle Market Street Development Corporation that is currently producing PPE masks for the Asheville-Buncombe County Area. We are primarily working to produce masks for the Sheriff’s department and Asheville Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement (ABIPA) at this time. We anticipate collaborating with other groups in the future to continue being a part of the solution during this period.
