We Are Still Taking COVID-19 Seriously
As businesses and venues reopen, Eagle Market Street Development Corporation remains committed to ensuring the health and safety of our program participants, tenants, and employees. We will continue to telework until further notice, and all team members, employees, and contractors are still adhering to policies to seek medical attention if experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. We will continue to adjust our response as necessary and thank you all for cooperating with us to keep our community safe.
We Demand Equity and Take Action
EMSDC is a non-profit organization dedicated to the sustainable development of opportunity, education, and economic independence in communities of color, especially the African-American community. EMSDC creates opportunities for African-Americans by generating jobs, providing investment capital for small businesses, and providing entrepreneurial skill training in the community. We stand with the African-American community in the fight against racial and social inequity.
Services For Your Business at EMSDC
Capitalizing on Our Individual Development Account Program
As we prepare to enter phase three of reopening, many small businesses across Asheville determine the most efficient way to resume their business and when it will be best for them to do so. Many business owners fear that if they reopen prematurely, they may be forced to close permanently. Our Eagle Market Street Development Corporation remains focused on how we can aid small businesses in their effort to resume activity as usual. We assist with procuring capital through the acquisition of assets, creation of jobs, and providing entrepreneurial skill training through our Individual Development Account (IDA) program. The IDA program provides financial capability management skills, marketing, advertising, and business development strategies for participants to compete in a free-market system successfully. For more information visit our website at https://eaglemarketsts.org/ida
Community Benefit Partnering with Not For Profit and For-Profit Entities
EMSDC’s Fiscal Sponsorship program helps grassroots organizations seeking 501(c)(3) sponsorship who are not registered as a 501(c)(3) solicit in conjunction with their Corporate Social Responsibility activities. We provide 501(3)(c) protection to organizations whose mission aligns with EMSDC’s economic development mission. An outstanding exemplification of a community member utilizing this program is CoThinkk, which is an organization dedicated to the upliftment of communities of color in Asheville and Western North Carolina through social change philanthropy.
Community Leasing Opportunities
EMSDC currently has two commercial leasing units available for rent at 70 South Market Street in downtown Asheville. Those who will need a commercial leasing space after phase three has gone into effect should contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information about the property.
Block by Block Industries
Block by Block Industries is a contract commercial sewing program owned by Eagle Market Street Development Corporation. We have been addressing COVID-19 by producing non-medical grade PPE masks that are suitable for social distancing for the Asheville-Buncombe County Area. We are primarily working to provide masks for the Sheriff’s department and Asheville Buncombe Institute of Parity Achievement (ABIPA). We anticipate collaborating with other groups to continue being a part of the solution during this period.
